Stop Your Snowboard Goggles from Steaming up!

29th October 2011

One of the most annoying things when your are snowboarding is impaired vision caused by the lenses in your snowboard goggles steaming up when you are on the mountain. There are a few simple rules you can follow to help minimize this.

First off, make sure you buy a decent pair of goggles that have an anti-fog treatment on the lens. We currently stock Dragon Snowboard Goggles and Anon Goggles, both of which come out of the box with an anti-fog treatment.

If you have bought a decent pair of snowboarding goggles it now all comes down to how you wear them and how you look after them. Try not to touch the lenses themselves on the goggle and if you take a slamm and take a face shot then try to shake off any excess snow and where possible air them to dry them out. If you need to get riding straight away and they are not airing quick enough then use the cloth bag that came with your snowboard goggles to wipe them clean.

Try not to keep taking them on and off all day as this won't help and always remember that as soon as you start riding the air will flow through the vents in the goggles and they should start to demist.

When wearing the goggles remember that heat rises. If you have a jacket that you have done up to the neck then it's going to act like a funnel and the heat will be escaping upwards towards your goggles and face...so, keep your vents on your jacket open and always make sure that any vents on your goggles are free of obstruction - be it snow or beanies etc.
