D4 Sandwich Construction Most of the competition uses three layers of glass in their high end boards, but we see things slightly differently. A key reason for our Good Wood success is the four layers of fiberglass we use in our top sheets. The tip to tail layers are angled so they run across the insert pattern from effective edge to effective edge, which transmits transmitting power along the entire effective edge. The third layer uses vertical fibers for progressive longitudinal flex. The fourth layer runs edge to edge underfoot resulting in rock solid stability. This process allows us to fine tune the torsional flex of every model, with generally stiffer nose and tail, yet slightly softer underfoot.
