Sintered 7200 Generally speaking there are two main types of base on the snowboard market today, Sintered and Extruded. Sintered bases are created by a more expensive production method but are much better than extruded bases. The P-Tex material is compressed together to form the base material and in the process there are tiny microscopic holes that are porous to wax. The end result is a high quality fast base. The number 7200 relates to the molecular weight of the base material, basically the higher the number, the more dense the material.
