HARSHMELLOW TECHNOLOGY

SNOWBOARD HARSHMELLOW
A thin layer of Harshmellow synthetic polymer, designed to absorb high frequency vibrations associated with riding at high speeds.

BINDING HARSHMELLOW
A medium layer of Harshmellow synthetic polymer, designed to absorb low frequency vibrations and impact.

BOOT HARSHMELLOW
A thick layer of Harshmellow synthetic polymer, designed to absorb impact and shock associated with stomping landings.

EARTH CONCIOUS CONSTRUCTION - BLEED GREEN

•   Hybrilight Construction eliminates the usage of ABS plastic by 100%.
•   Better fiberglass that is 35% stronger, allowing us to use less overall
material. It is also produced with next generation manufacturing techniques that reduces emissions of C02, Sox, Nox, and particulates by 67% - 90%.
•   We selected high performance, ultra thin Tek-Style topsheets and eliminated the UV coating by 100%.
•   Our wood cores are made from Aspen and Bamboo that regrow from existing root systems after cutting thereby eliminating erosion in their ecosystems.
•   Reduced usage of solvents, steel, base materials, resin, and cores.

We believe it’s important for everyone to do their part as a snowboarder so winter will live on. What’s more important than preserving the best days of our lives? This season we are taking our biggest steps ever to minimize our consumption of materials and contain our own waste streams. We are here to do our part, raise awareness that every contribution matters and create the path for the future generations of snowboarders. This is only the beginning.

It’s a small step, but we need to start somewhere. To show our dedication K2 will purchase pollution offset credits for every  snowboard manufactured. These credits ensure that purchasing this snowboard will not contribute to the deteriorating environment.

INTRODUCING HYBRILIGHT CONSTRUCTION
This season we are proud to introduce HybriLight Construction; built from the ground up using minimal amounts of materials to be the most environmentally friendly as possible. The fact that we have produced a research version of the new 0 snowboard that is more powerful than the standard snowboard is a testament to the benefits of going green. This snowboard also demonstrates our engineering capabilities, our understanding of high performance snowboards and our knowledge of emerging renewable material technologies.

ROCKER TECHNOLOGY
Replacing camber with ROCKER may be the best improvement in snowboarding to date! ROCKER helps the board rise to the surface of the snow while the rider maintains a centered balance for maximum control forward or switch. Get in some deeper snow and you'll have a HUGE smile! The shorter hyper progressive edge makes the board maneuverable and lively on groomed terrain while the pre-set Rocker allows you to jib in style. A stiffer nose and tail prevent the board from buckling whether you are dropping a pillow line or sticking a 60-foot table top. Rock-on!

At K2, we’ve been playing with Rocker for years and have developed three unique applications of this technology specific to rider styles and needs.

Rocker is defined and measured starting at FCP (Forward Contact Point) and ACP (Aft Contact Point). The FCP/ACP are the furthest most points where the board would have its first contact with the snow before tip and tail kick on a traditionally cambered board.

The amount of rocker is measured two ways :

A = The height in mm FCP is off of a flat surface
B = The distance back in mm from the traditional FCP the rocker tapers down to.

THE POWDER ROCKER
Rocker Range: 13mm+/260mm+
Our Highest amount of Rocker enables to board to float effortlessly in anything over 4”, get in some deeper snow and you’ll have a huge smile. The full length hyper progressive edge combined with the shortened effective edge makes the board maneuverable and lively on groomed terrain while the stiffer nose and tail prevent the board from buckling whether you are dropping a pillow line or sticking a 60-foot cliff.

ALL TERRAIN ROCKER
Rocker Range: 10-7mm/260-180mm
For those looking for a rockered board for everything. Our most versatile amount of Rocker makes turning feel effortless on hardpack, yet has a great degree of float in softer snow and crud. The pre-set Rocker is the greatest mix of ease and versatility in any condition with a great amount of pop giving this Rocker a fun, lively and energetic feel.

JIB ROCKER
Rocker Range: 6-2mm/180-10mm
The Rocker for park! Allows for a loose buttery feel while jibbing around the park. Whether your pressing boxes or just dorkin around on the flats, the Rocker has a forgiving non-edge catching feel that allows you to pull off even the most difficult of combinations.

K2 CORES
We believe wood provides the best all around performance of any material out there. All of our woods are renewable resources and our high-end cores come with performance enhancing materials.

HONEYKOMB TECHNOLOGY:
We use urethane skinned honeykomb in our top of the line cores. Simply stronger, lighter, and damper than the wood it replaces. We keep the tip to tail, rail to rail wood performance by inserting Honeykomb only on the lower surface of the core. You get all the benefits of honeycomb without that tin can feel.

WH5:
The WH5 Core is exclusive on the “ø”, uniquely shaped for our new Hybrilight Construction and maximizing our Honeykomb technology. This is the best performing and lightest weight core in the line.

WH4:
The WH4 Core maximizes absolutely every element of our core. With a greater percentage of Honeykomb than the WH3 Core, it’s engineered to maintain durability at minimal weight.

WH3:
Our WH3 includes two strips of Honeykomb material between the bindings and the rails.

W2:
Three species of renewable wood are assembled to optimize strength, reduce weight, and enhance damping without the addition of other materials.

W1:
Our W1 core is characterized by a single species of pure wood with proven flex, durability, and snap. This is our “go to” core for entry to mid level boards.

K2 BOARD CONSTRUCTION

PATENTED HYBRITECH CONSTRUCTION:
Hybritech is the most efficient way to make a snowboard. It takes a cap tip and tail and blends it into a sidewall along the running surface. This gives you low swing weight and optimized turn initiation at the ends combined with durability and damping on the running surface.

HYBRITAPER TIP TECH:
Hybritaper takes our current Hybritech Construction, and tapers out the core at the tip and tail to reduce the swing weight. We blend the tips from a cap into a thin sandwich removing the sidewall where you don’t need it.

JIB TIP TECH:
Our Jib Tip design integrates a longer effective edge with shorter nose and tail, allowing you to drop down 5 cm in board size without losing the stability of a longer board. Perfecting those jibs and butters is now easier than ever!

ICG GLASS - LIGHTER, STRONGER, MORE RESPONSIVE
We have integrated our carbon strips into the fiberglass reducing overall weight and creating a super smooth release of power. Increasing pop and liveliness, each level of ICG is distributed for the rider at hand and their performance needs.

Matrix I performance enhanced with additional carbon bracketing the center of the tip and tail = Unrivaled

MATRIX III
Metal component (titanal) = unparalleled hold at tip and tail for powering out of landings, powering edge to snow, and energizing board feel. Carbon component = pop, lively board feel.

FIBERGLASS

BIAXIAL
Best performing all purpose glass for an easy performance ride.

TRIAXIAL
Glass with a directional element stiffens the board torsionally. Best bet for improved edge hold and off axis stability.

SIDECUTS/SHAPE
Different sidecuts give our boards many unique handling characteristics. Whether you’re hitting kickers in the park, railing on the hardpack, buttering in the flatlands or learning your first few turns, we have a sidecut that will perform for you. Our technology allows us to develop the best geometric combinations to make your days on the hill more fun and less strenuous, keeping you in control at all times.

HYPER PROGRESSIVE
Similar to a formula one car suspension, our Hyper Progressive sidecut allows for ultra fine adjustment at any speed and in any condition. An infinite number of different radius are blended together flawlessly from mellow in the tips, to more aggressive in the center. This sidecut mellows out the transitions leaving you with the most predictable, best all around riding board on the market.

DUAL PROGRESSIVE
Designed for any level of rider, our Dual Progressive sidecut is a mistake friendly, fun and forgiving sidecut, which allows for more consistent riding in all situations.
