Technical evolution takes on a whole new meaning thanks to Craig’s, our in-house Vermont proto facility, where his passion for innovation continues to this day. Our custom-built rapid prototyping machinery allows us to take an idea, build it, and ride it the very next day. We can tweak and rebuild accordingly, sometimes creating hundreds of prototypes until our team’s standards are met. Test, refine, repeat. Instant feedback. Endless progression.

Factory Tuning


Every board we make is waxed, buffed, finessed, and shred-ready before leaving the factory. Our Microfinish process involves over 30 finishing steps, including an edge tune and detune, that puts the right amount of sharpness and bevel on each board to ensure the perfect finish for all riding styles and conditions.


After Microfinishing comes Enduro Waxing. Each board is waxed and hot-buffed for a shiny, super-fast ride right out of the shop. 


This Burton-exclusive technology allows us to maximize pop and strength by overbuilding the board, then putting it in a machine that breaks in the board for you. Whether you choose to ride Springloaded, Rocker, or Camber, rest assured that with Infinite Ride™ your board will maintain its flex, pop, and feel from the first day forward, season after season. 

Mounting - The Channel


Stronger, faster, easier, and more adjustable—The Channel™ gives you ultimate control of your stance and your board in a design compatible with all major bindings (not just Burton’s). Better yet, all boards with The Channel are fully covered by a 3-year warranty. This means that if you have any issue with any part of the board, even if The Channel is in mint condition, you are covered.

Split Channel & Retro Fit


Go ahead and get picky with your splitboarding stance, and continue to fine-tune it as the season unfolds. With the Split Channel, you get the strongest, fastest, easiest, and most adjustable mounting system ever offered on a splitboard. The days of compromise are officially over. All Burton splitboards with the Split Channel come with pucks pre-mounted for easy setup.


The M6 Transition Kit (available for FREE with Burton board purchase) contains everything needed to ride pre-2011 Burton Disc and EST® bindings with the latest generation of The Channel™. The kit includes two retro discs for compatibility with Burton Disc bindings, as well as a full set of the M6 Transition hardware for compatibility with both Burton Disc and EST bindings.

Green Mountain Process

Burton’s Green Mountain Process grows from our deep roots in Vermont’s Green Mountains to be an overarching product design and development process in which sustainability is considered at every step along the way. The result is a better experience for everyone involved.

New steps towards sustainability for 2016. 

  • NEW for 2016 every Burton core is now fully certified by the Forest Stewardship Council—an independent non-profit that promotes environmentally sound, socially beneficial, and economically prosperous management of our world’s forests.
  • All Burton boards are now packaged in the fully compostable and recyclable paper sleeve we introduced with our Family Tree models last season. Even better, the new wrapper no longer requires webbing removal before sending it back into the cycle of life.
  • Featured on all Family Tree models, Super Sap® is a new resin formulated with bio-based materials that reduces the carbon footprint by 50% over conventional all-petroleum-based epoxies. Less oil consumption means even less of a carbon footprint per board, which is good in our book.
  • All Family Tree models now utilize a wood veneer construction process, reducing overall wood scrap and waste by 20%.
  • All Family Tree models feature Sintered WFO bases made with recycled industrial materials that would otherwise be incinerated.

Our Austrian factory has also been striving to reduce waste and operate as efficiently as possible.

  • Provides heat and energy to run the presses as well as heat the factory and offices by burning all wood scraps in the furnace.
  • Fully recycles all sidewall and base scrap material back into the process.
  • All sidewalls, cores, and spacers are made on site to reduce the transportation footprint.
  • Most materials sourced from within a 250 mile radius to reduce the overall carbon footprint.
  • Water in board presses is recycled back into the system in a closed loop process to dramatically reduce water usage.

Snowboard shape


Perfectly symmetrical for a balanced ride that’s equally versatile when ridden regular or switch.Jib, spin, stomp, and butter with a greater balance of freestyle mobility and cat-like stability no matter which way you point it.


The classic snowboard shape, designed to be ridden with a slightly longer nose than tail to concentrate pop in the tail while still giving you plenty of float, flow, and control to rip any terrain or condition. 


Select boards offer versions of their signature rides in wider platforms that are redesigned from the ground up for riders with a size US 11+ men’s boot.


Optimized around a size US 10–10.5 men’s boot, the added waist width eliminates toe and heel drag, thus increasing stability and fun.


A tapered shape means the nose is wider than the tail, promoting smooth turn entry and exit, stability at speed, and enhanced deep snow flotation. Look for different amounts of taper throughout the line.

Snowboard Flex


The flex is perfectly symmetrical from tip to tail for a balanced ride that’s equally versatile regular or switch. 


This flex features increased pop in the tail and a more resilient nose that allows riders to easily maintain control through all terrain and conditions.

Snowboard Bend

A board's Bend from tip to tail determines how playful or precise the ride will be, and when it comes to Bend, Burton offers a dialed variety. Stick with the classic pop and precision of camber, the float and playfulness of Flat Top, or the best of both worlds with hybrids like PurePop camber and Flying V™. Directional versions of our Bends dial in deep snow float and control with shapes geared towards freeride performance.


An advocate of powerful turns and poppy precision, camber speaks to the core values of board design. Offering a snappy suspension, camber distributes weight evenly over the entire length of the board for smooth, continuous edge control from tip to tail.


An evolution of a traditional camber shape, our PurePop Camber profile features subtle flat zones just outside your feet to amplify pop and add playfulness to the snap and response of camber. Early rise tip and tail sections spin and float with a catch-free feel.


A blend of camber and rocker performance, Flying V™ offers the best of both worlds. Rocker overall, including between and outside your feet, enhances playfulness and float. Underneath your feet, subtle camber zones focus edge-control for crisp snap, added pop, and powerful turns. 


Rising rider or seasoned pro, keep your game high and tight with Flat Top. A flat profile between the feet means stability, better balance, and continuous edge control. The tip and tail kick up with an early rise outside the feet for the catch-free, loose feeling you’d expect from rocker.

Considering sustainability at every step, we’ve made vast improvements to our wood cores for 2016, resulting in a lineup that is 10% lighter across the board and fully FSC™ Certified. Rated in Gs for gram-weight to make it easy for riders to see the benefits as they move up the line, this new core offering is the result of the most in-depth redesign to date.


Our lightest core ever, the Ultrafly went through 20 design revisions to lighten it up to a whole new level. Precision milling optimizes the strength-to-weight ratio and the performance possible from a wood core.


Use of end-grain woods in impact zones allows us to swap heavier woods for lighter weight species without sacrificing strength. Featured on the Custom X™, Antler, and Antler Flying V.


Stronger and lighter woods target specific areas of the core to provide pop, strength, and reduced weight. 


Lightened up and loaded with pop, our dual-species wood core utilizes dual-density vertical laminations of alternating softwood/hardwood to reduce overall weight with no sacrifice in strength or performance. 


Our classic tip-to-tail wood core, the 900G model utilizes the best of two wood species to lighten the load  by 10% without sacrificing flex, pop, or strength.

EGD: Engineered Grain Direction

A Burton exclusive. Manipulating the angles and direction of wood grain placement within the core results in superior edge-hold, response, and durability.


In four separate zones, the wood grain is perpendicular to the core adjacent to The Channel™—the area from which a rider’s power emanates—for ultimate strength and edge control. 


The wood grain is positioned along the toe and heel edges on two continuous zones, perpendicular to the rest of the wood core, for consistent edge-hold and added strength.



Using a formula from the future, Mystery Glass is the result of a robotic-built complex carbon layup that allows us to manipulate flex and feel while revolutionizing strength-to-weight. Exclusive to the Mystery.


Carbon Highlights optimizes each layer of the fiberglass matrix and adds a full tip-to-tail carbon layer to reduce weight and fine tune torsional feel to achieve different ride characteristics. A 60° fiber angle creates a highly maneuverable and playful feel, while a 45° fiber angle provides a more aggressive ride. Hi-Voltage models like the Antler, Antler Flying V, Custom X, Landlord, Landlord Split, and NEW Skipjack include the addition of carbon strands to the angled fiber layers to add life and further reduce weight.
